Pennie and her team of caregivers, who provided exceptional home healthcare for my mom, were more than just caregivers; they became like family, treating her as their own mother. Their support enabled her to remain social, which is essential for aging loved ones. My mom loved being around people, but as she entered her early 90s, she began to lose her executive function. Pennie and her team of caregivers ensured that my mom was ready for the day, helping her maintain her pride in her appearance by picking out outfits and assisting with her personal hygiene.

They accompanied her to meals and entertainment, played cards, listened to music, and danced—engaging in activities that made her happy. Under challenging circumstances regarding my mother’s well-being, I was fortunate to be introduced to Pennie Sortino and her incredible team of caring women, whom I initially observed providing support to another resident at Shannondell, where my mother lived. At 88 years old, my mother faced a new year marked by a broken ankle, which left her permanently wheelchair-bound while residing in Audubon, Pennsylvania. 

In an effort to maintain her independence through home healthcare, I reached out to Pennie. She swiftly assembled a dedicated team of caregivers to provide my mother with 24-hour care, seven days a week. Over time, they transformed into my mother’s ‘girlfriends,’ offering playful companionship and attentive care while being readily available for her needs, including bathing, laundry, food shopping, and meal preparation. 

Most importantly, they were always there. I never had to worry about whether someone would show up. Pennie is meticulous in her selection of caregivers, ensuring that her team is both skilled and compassionate. She has created a vital senior care services operation that truly prioritizes the well-being of her clients.
